Build and Learn Terrarium Workshop
On September 20, 2023 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks and the SL Hot House & Garden Center located at 50 Bay Blvd hosted a Build and Learn Terrarium Workshop. Mercy Care Volunteers and Elder Friends created and learned how to care for Terrariums under the guidance of knowledgeable Hot House Staff.
2023 Friendship Picnic and Awards Recognition Ceremony
On September 7th, 2023 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks held a Friendship Volunteer Picnic and Awards Recognition Ceremony at Camp Guggenheim in Saranac Lake. Tyler Barton, Programs Manager at the Adirondack Center for Writing in Saranac Lake led a creative writing workshop and discussed upcoming workshop opportunities.
Meet Our Multigenerational Team Ice Cream Socials
On August 2nd and 3rd, our Mercy Care team met with Volunteers and Elders at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake and Heaven Hill Farm in Lake Placid to celebrate friendship, introduce new members of our team and enjoy ice cream sundaes.
Annual Educational Forum
On June 7th Mercy Care for the Adirondacks held its annual Educational Forum at Paul Smiths College on the topics of Agism and the Master Plan on Aging in NY.
Friendship Volunteer Training in Lake Placid
On May 24th, 2023 Mercy Care trained and commissioned 6 new volunteers at Heaven Hill Farm in Lake Placid.
Friendship Volunteer Training in Tupper Lake
On January 25th, 2023 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks trained 9 new Friendship Volunteers at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Tupper Lake, NY.
Age-Friendly Education Network Seasonal Tea and Craft Social
On November 15th, 2022 Mercy Care Friendship Volunteers along with their Elder Friends gathered at the Paul Smiths College Visitor Interpretive Center for a Tea and Craft Social. Tea and seasonal confections were enjoyed while Paul Smith’s College student, Nick Main gave a presentation on bird watching. Scott van Laer, director of the VIC, and John Dillon Park then lead instruction on the birdhouse building.
Friendship Volunteer Training in Saranac Lake
On October 19th, 2022 Mercy Care for the Adirondacks trained 7 new Friendship Volunteers at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Saranac Lake, NY.
A Retreat for Parish Nurses & Those Who Care for Elders
On September 28, 2022, Mercy Care for the Adirondacks held a Retreat for Parish Nurses and Those Who Care for Elders at Guggenheim Lodge in Saranac Lake, NY. The retreat was facilitated by Jo Ann Paradise and focused on COVID’s Impact on the Hearts, Minds, and Spirits of our Elders.
